Events

We have programs that vary from outreach, education, providing necessary items, and food for those in need. Most importantly, we offer the human touch and provide meaningful interactions with those who we come into contact with. It is with this genuine connection that our volunteers are ablet o see homelessness and poverty humanized. Helping people see each other as people rather than circumstances helps to raise our community in awareness and compassion.

At this time, we are seeking grant funding to assist us with these programs!

Our organization, We Rise Above the Streets Recovery Outreach Inc., has been organizing a Thanksgiving dinner for the less fortunate for the past 7 years years at St. Lucy Catholic Church. You can check some photos from last year's event. I want to emphasize how well the event is executed - volunteers treat everyone in need with care and respect, making them feel like they are in a five-star restaurant. Our volunteers are required to wear a white shirt with black pants. They escort guests to their tables, take their orders, serve the food promptly, and ensure their comfort throughout.

The people we are helping are not lining up standing in a long line in the usual way as they typically do at other events to access services. After the meal, guests are welcome to get haircuts, shop for free coats, clothes, toys, gifts, hygiene packages, and more. There's also a DJ, vendors sharing mental health information, and a foot washing station and mobile shower planned for this year. We are seeking sponsors. We are looking for businesses and organizations that can create different hygiene kits and organize a collection of hats and gloves for the occasion. Additionally, we are in need of volunteers or restaurants to prepare cook turkey. Our goal is to gather a minimum of 25 cooked turkeys. We are seeking volunteers to cook side dishes and to create sweets.

We require a large quantity of desserts. We are looking for volunteers to help out. The event always brings me immense joy as guests leave with smiles, full hearts, and immense gratitude. Every year, people express their thanks and appreciation, and we aim to make this year's event even more special. The volunteers feel extremely pleased, thankful, and joyful too. We rely on your support, so please consider donating a hot meal or volunteering to make this day unforgettable for those in need.
